BMW Malaysia has launched the new, locally assembled BMW 218i Gran Coupe M Sport at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Like the new 1 Series, the BMW 218i Gran Coupe M Sport is yet another torchbearer for BMW’s revolution of front-wheel drive cars. Yes, the 218i Gran Coupe is front-wheel drive! You may be as appalled as we are but when we first got to drive the exact car in Portugal earlier this year, BMW said most of their customers don’t care if their BMWs are front or rear-wheel driven!

In terms of dimensions, the 218i Gran Coupe measures 4,526 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,420 mm in height. To give you a little perspective, compared to the G20 BMW 3 Series, the 218i Gran Coupe is only 39 mm shorter, 27 mm narrower and 22 mm lower. As for wheelbase, the 218i Gran Coupe measures 4,670 mm. Compared to the G20 3 Series, it’s 181 mm shorter.

INTERIOR
Despite the significant difference in wheelbase compared to the BMW G20 3 Series, the 218i Gran Coupe which is based on the BMW X1 and X2 platform still manages to offer plenty of legroom, with sufficient head and knee room for a 180 cm tall passenger.
