Proton Saga MC2 facelift finally launched

· Automotive News

Proton has finally unveiled an upgraded version of the A-segment sedan, the Proton Saga 2022 for the local market. The 2022 Proton Saga MC2 is featured using the same engine as before, but with an updated interior design. In terms of power, it remains a 1.3-liter naturally aspirated pulse capable of providing 95 PS of power and 120 Nm of torque, paired to a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission

The Proton Saga MC2 is available in four different variants:

  1. 1. 1.3L Standard MT - RM34,400
  2. 2. 1.3L Standard AT - RM38,300
  3. 3. 1.3L Premium AT - RM41,300
  4. 4. 1.3L Premium S AT - RM44,300

The improvements are minor, and the Saga retains the same bumpers and lights on both ends, implying that there will be no changes to LED headlamps. The 'Infinite Weave' design stays, but the 'Ethereal Bow' strip has an indent below where it cradles the emblem. The previous stripe was a horizontal line. The strip, however, is only red on the Premium S; it is silver on the Standard and Premium.

The improvements include a new round-shaped Proton logo, an air conditioning control system panel, a finish on the air conditioning funnel, and a meter panel display. The new 1.3L Premium S AT model has folding auto side mirrors, 15-inch rims,  leather steering wheel and seats, a start-up button, a keyless entry system, and its own dimmer lighting system.

The premium variant also has a seven-inch infotainment screen providing support for Android and iOS devices, as well as three USB ports. The installation of a body package with front and side skirting improves the exterior look of this S AT model. The Proton Saga MC2 keeps the features like two airbags, ABS, EBD, and Brake Assist, but Proton introduces electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TCS), and climb start (HHA) for the 1.3L Standard AT variant. Besides, the two top variants also get additional front parking sensors, as well as a reversing camera to the two rear parking sensors.
