Over the latter part of 2022, the all-new third-generation Honda HR-V has been generating headlines. The HR-V is a vital model for Honda Malaysia.Honda HR-V pioneered the entry-level SUV market in which rivals such as the Proton X50 and X70 and Toyota Corolla Cross currently compete. The B-segment crossover has been sighted multiple times in Malaysia and is expected to arrive in the third quarter of 2022.
Design
The US-spec HR-V appears to be more appealing than the ASEAN-spec model. This is because the company considered the consumers' tastes and preferences before making a decision. However, this does not imply that the Thai or Indonesian-spec HR-V is inferior.
There are two different ‘faces’ between the Singapore version and Thailand version. On the left is the ‘regular’ face, which has horizontal bars. The automobile on the right has the 'RS' face, which has a more sporty appearance. Malaysia has a probability of adopting the same model as its neighbors. Indonesia gets both faces for the E and E SE variants with the 1.5-liter normally aspirated engine. The 'RS' face is designated for the 1.5 liter turbo engine type. The RS face is available in Thailand, but not with a turbo engine. Thailand got a hybrid engine with the normal face and RS face.
Dimension
The current Honda HR-V on the market in Malaysia measures 4,346 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,605 mm in height, with a 2,610 mm wheelbase. The dimensions of the 2022 HR-V are as follows: 4,385 mm length, 1,790 mm width, and 1,590 mm height, with a 2,610 mm wheelbase.
Pricing
Pricing for the new HR-V might be slightly higher due to the increased positioning of the engines available if we just get the turbo and hybrid, bypassing the regularly aspirated 1.5. The latest City Hatchback, the e:HEV RS, costs RM 107,783.09, whereas the most costly petrol variant costs only RM 91,708.51. The City Sedan's e:HEV RS costs RM 105,950.45, while the 1.5 V costs RM 90,212.36. That is a significant premium for the hybrid system - around RM15k, or a 17 percent price increase.
